Laura Burberry is an established Chartered Accountant with a wealth of experience in turnaround, interim management, restructuring, performance improvement, M&A, and market analysis. With close to 20 years experience in turnaround and restructuring, Laura has a proven track record implementing sustainable, and lasting changes.

Laura’s experience covers the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in healthcare, having advised on public acute and mental health hospitals, not-for-profit nursing homes and publicly traded care home operators. In addition, Laura also has experience in several other sectors including: oil and gas, financial services, mining, shipping, consumer goods, and retail.

Before joining Gibbins Advisors, Laura was the Western Canada Leader for Deloitte’s Performance Enhancement Advisory practice and was a Senior Director at FTI Consulting where she set up FTI Asia’s turnaround and performance improvement service line.

    • Appointed Interim Finance Director of Southern Cross Healthcare Group PLC to lead the solvent wind down of the largest care home operator in the UK (listed company).

    • Led a Program Management Office for a CA$1.57 billion transaction involving workstreams in 23 jurisdictions.

    • Appointed Interim CFO and board member of a private equity backed mining company with operations in Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. Developed and implemented turnaround plan while negotiating funding with lenders.

    • Appointed Interim CFO of a shipping company in Receivership with operations in Indonesia and Singapore. Managed all day-to-day operations, cash flow and redefining the company’s strategy, resulting in the sale of assets and closure of loss-making divisions.

    • Turnaround of the UK’s most distressed public hospital. Achieved savings of over £50 million while improving patient safety. Led an organization-wide staffing transformation and was appointed Acting Head of Procurement.

    • Advised the UK government and healthcare regulators on acute and mental health hospitals on risk assessments, due diligence, cost improvement and working capital.

    • Business review for a deteriorating 70-bed not-for-profit nursing home operator.

    • Led multiple M&A commercial, financial, customer due diligence engagements.

    • Advised large corporations in the retail and consumer goods space on market analysis, go to market strategies and business cases.

    • Masters in Business Management from Durham Business School and a

    • Bachelor of Arts from the University of Durham (UK).

    • Laura has been a FCA (Fellow Chartered Accountant) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales for over 15 years.

    • In 2024, Laura was appointed onto the Board of Directors for Highlands Kids Club, a not-for-profit organization.
